HIA youthBuild is an initiative of the HIA in which young people learn about, and gain practical experience in, the building industry in order to become work-ready while completing their secondary school studies.

Currently aimed at Year 9 and 10 students, it serves to promote career diversity and provides a pathway into industry. It is designed to primarily lead to VET training and future apprenticeships. It introduces the skill sets developed in apprenticeships alongside real industry experience.

HIA youthBuild has been a program integrated into the Department of Education’s Architecture and Construction Package of Learning and has now been expanded to support engagement by other schools this year.
