HIA youthBuild is a fun, interactive and free opportunity to gain practical experience in different areas of the construction industry.

The learning program introduces various trade areas, developing students’ understanding of the diverse nature of the building and construction industry.

What do I need to do?
{{ propApi.expandedIcon }} {{ propApi.collapsedIcon }} youthBuild Trade Foundations is led by a designated teacher at your school — many of whom have no trade background themselves — in partnership with the HIA youthBuild team, who provide full resources and support. You’ll be notified of any consents required for your child to participate.
What are the career options for students after the program?

HIA youthBuild and your education pathway

There are options to begin an Australian School-based Apprenticeship (ASbAs) during or at the completion of youthBuild.

What's it like?

Available while you work towards finishing schooling your school-based apprenticeship is a timetabled learning program structured around attendance at school, TasTAFE, or other RTO, and paid time on the job with an employer.

When can I start?

The minimum age a student can enrol in an apprenticeship or traineeship is 15 years. Under these pathways, students will be earning a nationally recognised qualification. improving employability and the opportunity to earn an income in an ever-growing industry.
